A case of a dead rabid bat in the 100 block of Maplewood North in Kyle has been confirmed by the Department of State Health Services.
The bat was found at approximately 7:30 p.m. April 4 behind a residence in that block and was confirmed as positive for rabies.
Local officials are putting out the public health notice, warning residents to never handle grounded bats.
If someone was in physical contact with that or another grounded bat, they should call Kyle Animal Control for information at 512-268-3232.
