A man, whose mother would not provide contact information to police, has been arrested three months after a warrant was issued stemming from a Kyle sexual assault charge, court documents state.
Christian Blake Gonzalez, 21, was arrested Feb. 1 and is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, according to Hays County Jail records.
Police were alerted to an alleged continued sexual assault of a child last September after a father reported his daughter had allegedly been assaulted by a man close to the family.
In a Sept. 9 forensic interview, the victim told investigators Gonzalez had sex with her four or five times during a two-year span, according to the suspect’s probable cause affidavit used to secure an arrest.
The victim told investigators the alleged sexual assault began when she was in middle school, the affidavit states.
By the time the incidents were reported, Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said Gonzalez had relocated to Tennessee. Several attempts to reach Gonzalez by phone were unsuccessful, and after contacting the suspect’s mother, police say she would not provide a contact phone number or an address for her son, according to the affidavit.
Police reported the suspect’s mother as saying she would have Gonzalez call investigators, though police never received any contact, the affidavit states.
Barnett said Monday his office was unaware of the circumstances behind Gonzalez’s arrest in Tennessee. He said the Hays County Sheriff’s Office entered the arrest warrant issued by Judge Beth Smith on Oct. 30 on a national law enforcement database, and that likely got him nabbed on the alleged sexual assault charge in Kyle.
Court records show Gonzalez lives in Lebanon, Tennessee, and he was transported to Hays County by U.S. Transport Inc, a third-party transportation service.
Gonzalez remains in Hays County custody and is being held on $75,000 bail.
