The Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Law Enforcement Center, located at 1307 Uhland Road in San Marcos, was placed on restriction earlier today after personnel received a suspicious letter containing a powdery substance, according to a statement from HCSO at about 12:30 p.m.
Officials from HCSO, Hays County Office of Emergency Management, Hays County Hazardous Materials Team and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) responded to the scene.
The building has been cleared and all personnel have returned to normal operations. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations will be conducting the investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, HCSO officials said no further information will be released at this time.
