Water company offers writing contest to Chapa Middle School

Monarch Utilities, a subsidiary of SouthWest Water Company, has launched a writing contest for Chapa Middle School students in Hays Consolidated Independent School District. The contest is an initiative to challenge students to think about the Earth’s natural resources and explain the importance of water in the community, state or world.“SouthWest Water Company is proud to partner with Chapa Middle School and put students’ writing skills to the test,” Gary Rose, director of operations, Texas Utilities West, SouthWest Water Company, said. “The contest will encourage students to think about water as a precious resource and consider its impact on the community.”

The SouthWest Water writing contest is open to all current Chapa Middle School students. To participate, students must submit one essay that is between 400 and 600 words. The essays will be scored anonymously by a panel of English/Language Arts teachers.
