Some additions and corrections to the Hays CISD in history (according to the archived newspapers in the Kyle Library, old yearbooks and school plagues):
1968 Hays Jr. High also opened
1973 Hays Middle School opened (was formally Hays Jr.High)
1986 Kyle Middle School opened
1993 KMS became Kyle Intermediate School
1999 KIS became Wallace Middle School
As shared a few weeks ago, the above five schools were home to the Ranger Mascot: Originally, the Jack C. Hays Jr. High Ranger.
Makes me wish I was a fly on the wall during those School Board decisions
