LOA applies for innovative learning grant
Live Oak Academy and the Digital Learning department of Hays CISD attended the Raise Your Hand Texas Raising Blended Learners Conference on September 29 and 30. The team, led by Live Oak Academy Principal Dr. Michael Watson, was selected to attend as a part of the application process for a $500,000 grant offered by Raise Your Hand Texas to benefit innovative blended learning environments in Texas public schools.
Each of Texas’ over 1200 school districts were invited to apply this summer and, as applications were narrowed to the top 75 applications, Hays CISD was chosen as a semi-finalist. Partnering with Raise Your Hand Texas and featured speaker Heather Staker, author of Blended: Using Disruptive Innovation to Improve Schools, Live Oak Academy and the Digital Learning department were treated to two days of innovative training and guidance that will impact student learning regardless of whether or not the grant is won.
