Dripping with Taste


The annual Dripping with Taste festival will be held 12-6 p.m.  Sept. 12 at Dripping Springs Ranch Park & Event Center.  Come out and sample the largest assortment of Texas wines, craft beers, gourmet foods and spirits available under one roof, at the 8th Annual Dripping with Taste Wine & Food Festival.  Sponsored by the Dripping Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, the festival was created to showcase the growing number of local vineyards, breweries, distilleries and gourmet food fares peppering the area.  That number continues to grow and so does the festival. This year’s festival includes over 75 tasteful vendors and an estimated 2000 food and wine enthusiasts. 


Kyle Market Days


Come out to historic City Square Park in Kyle for September’s market day. This month’s theme is “Fiesta Time” and partners with the Lehman Lobo Band Booster Club.


Buda Farmers Market


Support your local farmers at the Buda Farmers Market. The Saturday market is weekly from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Located across from Garcia’s Restaurant, Main Street, Buda. Free parking and restrooms available. Open year round.


Holy Cross Festival


The 2015 Holy Cross Festival will be held at 1100 Main St. in Buda on Saturday, Sept. 12 from noon-10 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon-7 p.m. Festivities include a kids ferris wheel, bounce houses, trackless train and more. Live perfomances include ballet folklorico, Dalton Gray, Michael Salgado and more. There will also be raffles, an auction, and tasty treats. Free admission. 


Orzoco at the KAP Center


Daniel Orozco will have a reading and book signing at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the Katherine Anne Porter Center (508 Center St. in Kyle). Orozco is the author of the short story collection, Orientation and Other Stories, published in 2011 by Faber & Faber. His work has appeared in McSweeney’s, Harper’s Magazine, StoryQuarterly, and Zoetrope, as well as The Best American Short Stories and the Pushcart Prize anthology.


Concerts for a Cause


Down South Railhouse in Kyle will host this season’s Concerts for a Cause. September’s concert will feature music by Shelley King and Lucas Cook and benefit Kids Outdoor Zone. The concert will be held Sept. 12 from 5-8 p.m. Enjoy live music, great food, and a chance to learn about Kids Outdoor Zone. Concerts for a Cause is a way to raise awareness of and raise money for some of the local-to-Hays County charities that work to make this simply charming county an even better place to live. 


Mayor Adkins Recognition and Benefit


On Friday, Sept. 18 from 4:30-7 p.m., Down South Railhouse in Kyle will be hosting a benefit to recognize and raise funds for former Kyle Mayor James “Bubba” Adkins. Music will be provided by the Solid Senders featuring Kyle’s Spencer Thomas. This event is free to attend but donations are welcomed and will go towards an expensive treatment for metastasized prostate cancer, which Mayor Adkins has been fighting for more than a year. Thanks to Sean Claes, Down South Railhouse and Spencer Thomas and the rest of the Solid Senders for helping make this event possible.


Gears for Giving Back


Gears For Giving Back is a car show fundraiser benefitting a small medical mission team to Costa Rica in January 2016 that will serve refugee mothers and children who have no access to government healthcare. Car entry fee is $25 and the event is free for general spectators. There will also be a dj, food, goody bags, a silent auction and children’s activities. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dick’s Classic Garage in San Marcos. Contact Tiffany Rodriguez at [email protected] for information.
