The Hays County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public to remain vigilant after two armed suspects who were impersonating as public servants pulled over a driver in Buda Tuesday night.
According to a HCSO press release, the incident occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of Old Black Colony Road.
The suspects are described as 6’0” to 6’2” tall with a slim build, and both suspects were armed with a black handgun.
One suspect was wearing a silver hooded sweatshirt, while the second suspect wore a white hooded sweatshirt. Both suspects wore a black ski mask.
The complaint reported to the HCSO detailed an incident in which a man was travelling in his personal vehicle when a dark-colored passenger car pulled up behind his truck.
The vehicle was further described as a dark-colored passenger car equipped with lights in the front windshield area, two on the driver’s side and two on the passenger side.
That vehicle, according to the release, displayed activated red and blue "police-type" lights on the dashboard, but didn't have any other lights or markings.
According to the release, two occupants exited the vehicle and approached the stopped truck.
A passenger in the truck saw two subjects who were each armed with a handgun and had ski masks covering their faces.
A witness alerted the driver of the dangerous situation and they were able to flee the area. The suspects didn’t attempt to follow.
The HCSO is asking the public to remain safe, vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
If you feel that an emergency vehicle attempting to stop you is suspicious, immediately dial 911 and explain the situation. They will be able to verify the identity of an officer. It is also recommended that you pull over in well-lit, public area to ensure everyone’s safety.
