Pickle ball tourney benefits Lions Camp

Submitted Report

On June 1 and 2, the Live Oak Academy LEO club hosted the inaugural pickle ball tournament to raise funds to donate to the Texas Lions Camp, a residential camping facility for children with physical disabilities.

The camp’s primary purpose is to provide, without charge, a camp for physically disabled, hearing/vision impaired, and diabetic children from Texas. The Camp, located on more than 500 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, is designed to introduce the “Can Do” philosophy to children dealing with special medical conditions.

Children with special needs from all over the State of Texas are invited to attend one of nine weeks filled with fun, exploration and challenge.

Hosting the inaugural tournament provided the LEO club an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national, and international community. The Owl LEOs engaged in all three core elements as a LEO as they raised funds through sponsorships from various businesses and individuals to contribute to the Texas Lions Camp, which relies on donations to sponsor campers.
