David Lee Dunham, long time Kyle resident, passed away Sunday, Dec 6 after a long battle with respiratory disease. David died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. He was 77 years old.
David was born in Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania, the second oldest of 4 brothers. They were a mischievous bunch with a penchant for getting into trouble.
David married Ethelene Pruitt on May 9, 1969 and became an instant father to Kevin and Denise. He and Ethelene had 2 more children, a baby girl that died at birth and his youngest son, David Shawn Dunham. David and his family lived in Kyle for 40 years. In his early years, he was a volunteer fireman for the City of Kyle and a Reserve Sheriff Deputy for Hays County.
During his time in Kyle, he spent many years doing carpentry work. He was able to meet and work with many people throughout the community. He had a reputation not only for the quality of his work, but also for the quality of his character. David worked for the Hays School District and retired after 20 years of service. Many classrooms and offices have something that David made or repaired.
David is survived by his wife, Ethelene Dunham, Jeff Dunham, his brother his children and their spouses; Denise & Sonny Vidovic of Austin, Kevin and Kerry Dunham of Rowlett, TX and David Shawn & Kristine Dunham of Merced, CA. His grandchildren, Eric and Andrew Hackler, Koby, Kyle, Krista, & Kathleen Dunham and 2 step grandchildren, Katarina and Stefan Vidovic, and many in-laws that loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Sarah Dunham and brothers, Eddy and Barry Dunham and his infant daughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec 11 at 2:00 pm at Pennington Funeral Home, San Marcos. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm.
