A political newcomer has ousted a longtime Buda City Council member from the dais by a wide margin in Tuesday’s runoff election.
According to unofficial runoff election results, candidate David Nuckels defeated incumbent Jose Montoya 168-92. Nuckels gained 64.6 percent of the vote, while Montoya gathered 35.3 percent.
Nuckels held a 122-49 lead over Montoya in early voting. Montoya gained a slight rally on Election Day, but could only gain 43 of the 89 Election Day voters. Nuckels gained 46 votes on Election Day.
