The 39 Steps
Wimberley Players offer high-octane entertainment with their stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps – a serious thriller infused with the famed director’s sense of the absurd. The play will run from Sept. 11 through Oct. 4. Daniel Orozco to read at the KAP Literary Center
Daniel Orozco will have a reading and book signing at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the Katherine Anne Porter Center (508 Center St. in Kyle). Orozco is the author of the short story collection, Orientation and Other Stories, published in 2011 by Faber & Faber. His work has appeared in McSweeney’s, Harper’s Magazine, StoryQuarterly, and Zoetrope, as well as The Best American Short Stories, The Best American Essays, and the Pushcart Prize anthology.
2015 Santa Cruz Holy Cross Festival
Santa Cruz Catholic Church and Santa Cruz Catholic School announce th 2015 Holy Cross Festival at 1100 Main St. in Buda on Saturday, Sept. 12 from noon-10 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon-7 p.m. Festivities include a kids ferris wheel, bounce houses, trackless train, cake walk, and more. Live perfomances include ballet folklorico, Dalton Gray, Michael Salgado and more. There will also be raffles, an auction, and tasty treats. Free admission.
Gears for Giving Back
Dick’s Classic Garage in San Marcos will be hosting a car show Saturday, Sept. 12 to benefit a Texas State University Medical Mission Team Trip. The group will travel to Costa Rica in January 2016 where it will serve refugee mothers and children who have no access to government healthcare. The car show is free and there will be food and live music. Those wishing to show off their unique automobiles, can register with a $25 donation fee.
