Hays High runner Esmi Fuentes led the Rebel cross country contingent Saturday as she claimed a seventh place overall finish in the varsity girls run at the New Braunfels Invitational meet.
Fuentes’ top ten finish was done against a field of 93 runners in the varsity girls 3,000-meter course. Overall, the Hays girls cross country team exited the weekend by finishing seventh out of 11 teams in the competition.
The Hays Rebel boys varsity cross country team was led by RJ Navarro, who claimed a 23rd place finish out of 127 participants in the 3,000-meter race. The Hays High boys team claimed 10th place out of 16 teams.
