Cougar earns photography distinction

As a part of the summer tradition for the Chapa yearbook staff members, a group of students participated in Texas A&M University’s Summer Yearbook Camp in July. As usual, CMS was one of the only middle schools to attend the high school camp. Three of our eighth graders, Alyah Pineda, Maddie Tellez and Kalei Engleman took the intensive three-day photography course. All three students earned accolades throughout the camp from their teachers for their various photography projects, and Kalei was singled out as a member of the All Workshop Photography Team. All of this despite being the only middle schoolers in the course. “I was really surprised that I got the award knowing that there were around 60 high schools and I was the only middle schooler that got the award. It was pretty amazing knowing that people in high school loved my pictures,” said Kalei.
