School briefs: Aug. 5, 2015

Sales Tax Holiday weekend starts this weekend

This year’s state Sales Tax Holiday is Aug. 7-9. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. Read more about this program for parents and school children on the website of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
