GT referral period now open
The Hays CISD campuses will accept referrals for gifted and talented services from now until Nov. 30. Referral forms can be obtained from the front office of the child’s school or online at http://www.hayscisd.net/webpages/hcisd_gt/referrals.cfm. Please return completed referral forms to the campus counselor.
Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.
Assessments will be conducted in the spring. Evaluation of student data and selection of services will occur in May. Parents are notified by mail May 2016 of the final determination of services.

Mariachi Extravaganza
The Hays CISD Mariachi Booster Club proudly presents the annual Dia de los Muertos Mariachi Extravaganza. This year’s festivities will be on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at a new location – the Kyle City Square (101 S. Burleson Street in Kyle).
The festival features fantastic music, outstanding food and family fun! All proceeds benefit the Hays CISD Mariachi Booster Club Scholarship Fund.
This year’s feature performances include: Lehman High School Los Lobos, LHS Luz de Luna, LHS Azul y Plata, WMS Mariachi del Campo Varsity, JV and Beginner, Mariachi Juvenil de Armando Chapa Varsity, JV and Beginner, Mariachi Los Camperos de Simon Varsity, JV and Beginner, and special guests.
