Downtown Halloween Treat Trail


On Halloween afternoon from 1-4 p.m., local businesses and organizations will set up tents and tables at City “Scare” Park to provide a fun and safe opportunity for trick-or-treating. We invite all ghouls and goblins young and old to come out to our Treat Trail for a fun afternoon of treats and a costume contest. To enter the costume contest, register at the gazebo by 1:45 p.m.


 


Salt and Light Festival


Come enjoy a safe & fun-filled time with friends and neighbors at First Baptist Church in Kyle (400 W. Center St.) on Oct. 31 from 5-9 p.m. There will be fun kids activities, ping pong toss, amazing Texas barbecue from celebrity pit masters, and it’s all free.


 


Plum Creek’s Haunted Porch


Come if you dare to 6087 Steiner for the Haunted Porch in Plum Creek from dark to 10 p.m. on Oct. 31. Bring a nonperishable food item for entry. Donations go to the Hays County Food Bank. The event is sponsored by Barton Middle School NJHS. 


 


Fall Festival


City Chapel at Slaughter Creek will host its second annual fall festival at Green Meadows Park in Buda from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 31. Enjoy train rides, jumpy castles, pumpkin painting, costume contests and more. 


 


Dia de los Muertos Mariachi Extravaganza


The 5th annual Mariachi Extravaganza will be held Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kyle City Square Park. Enjoy mariachi music by musicians from Chapa, Simon and Wallace middle schools and Lehman High School, along with food and family friendly fun.


 


Treats for Troops


Super Smiles Dental will buy back your Halloween candy! Bring unopened candy to the office at IH-35 and Main Street, next to HEB in Buda Nov. 4 and 5 from 2-6 p.m. and receive $1 per pound. Flags for schools


The Live Oak Masonic Lodge will be presenting flags to all 13 Hays CISD elementary schools on Nov. 11. The presentation at Kyle Elementary will begin at 1:30 p.m. that day. The public is invited to attend the presentation.


 


Veterans Music Fest and Chili Cook Off


Hays Fiesta presents the Hays Veterans Music Fest and Chili Cook Off on Nov. 7-8 at Gregg-Clarke Park (1300 W. Center Street) in Kyle. Flag presentation and color guard will be Saturday morning. This is a free event featuring live outdoor music, family fun, games, kids booths, raffles, food and more. Food, drinks and beer will be sold at the event. Lawn chairs allowed. No ice chests please. Hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
