Job Corps Heroes Maryann Gamble, 1992, a medical doctor, and Dago Pates, 2006, a law enforcement officer, visited with Congressmen Lloyd Doggett and Lamar Smith at the recent celebration of the Job Corps 50th anniversary.
Gamble, a physician with the Austin Regional Clinic Kyle, and Pates, an officer with the Kyle Police Department, shared their stories with Doggett and Smith of being students at Gary Job Corp and their treks through life that made them successful. More than 300 applicants were submitted throughout the United States. Only 10 were selected to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Job Corps Festivities held at the Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
