High school graduations
All three local high school are graduating their seniors next week. Lehman High School’s graduation will be held June 3 at 4 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum. Hays High School’s graduation will be held June 3 at 8 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum. Live Oak Academy’s graduation will be held June 4 at 6 p.m. at the Hays Performing Art Center.
Rebel Run 5K
Be a part of the Inaugural Hays Rebel Run 5K that takes place in the scenic surroundings of Mountain City, Texas on Sunday. The race starts at the west end of City Hall and continues throughout the City, ending back at City Hall. At the finish there will be a post race festive with entertainment. Motorcycle
Chute-out
The 2nd Annual Capital of Texas Police Motorcycle Chute Out will be held May 27-30 at Cabela’s in Buda. The event is a Texas Police Motorcycle Rodeo Association (TPMRA) event and counts toward the Texas Finals. The police motorcycle competition will bring together motor cops from all over Texas and beyond to compete in a series of courses and events. Friends and family are welcome to come out and watch the event and participate in fun! Free activities open to the public will include an exhibitor show, designated spectator section around the competition track, special motorcycle parking, stunt riders, great music by DJ Bedo and more! Funds raised by the Capital of Texas Police Motorcycle Chute Out in 2015 will benefit the Center for Child Protection and the Sunshine Kids Foundation.
Runoff Election
Two Kyle City Council seats will be decided in a runoff election Saturday. Damon Fogley and Jaime Sanchez are vying for the District 5 seat and Tammy Swaton is facing Daphne Tenorio for the District 6 seat. Voting will take place at Kyle City Hall, Wallace Middle School and Chapa Middle School 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
