The Hays CISD Board of Trustees passed the following agenda items at its May 26 business meeting:
Fair Market Equity Adjustment – The board approved an additional $1.5 million for a fair market equity adjustment for school counselors. This will address all pay grades, not necessarily all employees. This does not affect teachers, nurses or librarians. Motion carried 7-0.
Probationary contract termination – The board passed a motion to terminate the contract of a probationary teacher who failed to certify during the allotted time period. The administration will provide written notice of the decision. The vote was 6-0, with one abstention.
Optional flexible school day program – Students at Live Oak Academy will now have the option of taking part in an optional flexible school day program. The motion carried 7-0.
Middle school #6 construction materials – the district’s sixth middle school is under the early stage of construction. The board approved allocating $119,224 (which includes a contingency fee) to hire a firm for construction materials testing. The vote was 7-0 in favor of approving the funds.
