An actor fires his weapon toward enemy forces during a historical reenactment of the Aug. 18, 1813 Battle of Medina at Buda City Park in downtown Buda. A handful of actors reenacted the battle which was fought in el encinal de Medina, just outside of San Antonio. The battle pitted republican forces under the Gutierrez-Magee Expedition under General Jose Alvarez de Toledo y Dubois against Spanish troops led by General Joaquin de Arredondo. The battle, won by the Spanish troops, is known as the bloodiest battle ever fought on Texas soil.
