Four Painted Buntings in a Fountain.” Can you hear such a song in your ears? The sight was music to RonTom’s eyes just after he made an adjustment to restart the water flow on a hot summer afternoon.
Four screech owls came to the backyard birdbaths of Cindy Rector on Juniper on Sunday evening. She tidbitted, “Keeping my backyard bird baths clean and full of fresh water is definitely worth the effort.”
“Coral Snake in Pool Skimmer.” What music comes to mind? I wonder what lyrics came to Britt Wells on Live Oak Drive when he made that find!
Brett Burich killed a coral snake on his driveway on Saturday.
Several golden-fronted woodpeckers and ladder-back wtoodpeckers have found the suet block and peanut feeder in the backyard of James and Dianne Polk.
Our “Mr. Cowbird” stays on, staying on the deer protection wiring and hummer feeder just outside our breakfast window. Perhaps standing guard against the cowbird that beats him to his post each morning. He doesn’t peck so much nowadays. But, he stays.
These days I, myself, have a hard time pulling away from that window. Watching feeders and a shallow water fountain just a few feet away, a symphony of sights provides profound captivation.
King David sang it well: “Your majesty and glorious splendor have captivated me; I will meditate on Your wonders, sing songs of Your worth. We confess – there is nothing greater than You, God, nothing mightier than Your awesome works.” (Psalm 145, 5-6 The Voice)

Facebook is passing around a post by Reba McIntyre that bears passing along in print:
Special request to all you kids returning to school in August: If you see someone who is struggling to make friends or being bullied bacause he/she doesn’t have many friends or because they are shy or not as pretty or not dressed in the most “in” clothes – PLEASE step up. Say hi or at least smile at them in the hallway. You never know what that person might be facing outside of school. Your kindness might just make a BIG difference in someone’s life! PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS SHOULD RE-POST THIS.
You know, that’s quite good advice for all of us right here in our little city that used to be out in the country. “Say hi or at least smile ... You never know what that person might be facing.”

I’m facing a deadline without sufficient tidbits (or, I’ve forgotten some). Please help me by sending through cyberspace to [email protected] (subject: TIDBIT) or phoning 512-268-5678. Thanks! Love, Pauline
