Nineteen 4th and 5th grade girls from Fuentes Elementary were invited to participate in the Girlstart Game Changers luncheon last week. The girls were given the red carpet treatment at the JW Marriott. Guests witnessed experiments created by Girlstart participants. They also had the opportunity to listen to the Director of Giving at Google.org speak and honored women in STEM who have made a significant impact for girls and women. Only two schools in Central Texas were chosen to represent the best of Girlstart and Fuentes was honored as one of those schools. Fuentes 4th and 5th grade Girlstart members were called on stage and spotlighted in a very big way with highlights on KEYE by Chikage Windler. The Game Changers Annual Luncheon is a special celebration honoring women who have made a significant impact locally or nationally utilizing their STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, with all proceeds benefiting Girlstart. The event’s mission is to support STEM education and raises critical funds to support Girlstart’s core initiatives including free after school STEM programs.
