HAYS COUNTY – Several representatives for Hays County have noted that while COVID-19 infections seem to be lower this week than weeks prior, that may not be the reality.
Winter storm Uri stopped the number of COVID-19 testing for nearly a week, and after the storm, many are still preoccupied or unable to test for the virus.
On Thursday, Feb. 25, the Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reported three COVID-19 related fatalities. A Buda man in his 70s, a Kyle woman in her 30s and a San Marcos man in his 50s. This brings the total of COVID-19 related fatalities in Hays County to a total of 212.
As of Feb. 25, there are 28 current hospitalizations due to the virus and a total of 498 Hays County residents reported to have COVID-19. The county estimated the probable cases of infection at 1,787.
