Uhland tops sales tax percent increase

Staff report

The city of Uhland saw the largest sales tax percent increase in Hays County from Sept. 2014 to Sept. 2015.

Uhland gained the top spot after sales tax increased by 65 percent. The city brought in $15,800 in sales taxes, which totals to $114,610 the city has received since the start of 2015. The year-to-date amount marks a 33 percent increase in sales tax for Uhland from 2014.

Along the IH-35 corridor, the city of Kyle brought in just over $424,000 in sales tax in September. That amounts to a 17 percent jump in sales tax from the year previous.

But two Hays County cities saw their September sales tax payments drop from 2014.

Buda raked in $406,095 in sales tax, but the amount equated to an eight percent drop. Despite the small drop, the city continues to hold a seven percent increase in year-to-date sales tax payments.

Dripping Springs, however, saw sales tax drop by ten percent from Sept. 2014 to Sept. 2015.

Despite the slight drop, Dripping Springs, like the majority of other Hays County cities, continues to see an increase in year-to-date sales tax numbers.

Woodcreek, which is just outside of Wimberley, has seen year-to-date sales tax dollars plummet by 45 percent from 2014.

The city has only brought in $30,736.36 so far this year.
