The Merles at the Tavern on Main
The Merles are a classic country/western swing band based out of Austin featuring Todd Deatherage, Phil Spencer, Derek and Loren Tarnow and Matt Winegardner. They play a mix of originals and covers by their favorite artists, such as Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Ernest Tubb, and of course, Merle Haggard. They’ll play at the Tavern on Main, Friday, Aug. 28 and again on Sept. 25.
HCSO Flood Victim Benefit
On Aug. 29, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., head to VFW of San Marcos (1701 Hunter Road, San Marcos) for a flood victim benefit for employees of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. Enjoy BBQ, an auction and live music. BBQ tickets $10 a plate. Raffle and auction on site. All proceeds from the benefit will be donated to the employees of Hays County Sheriff’s Office affected by the Memorial Day Flood.
Buda/Kyle Gold Santa community garage sale
On Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to noon, Willie’s Joint in Buda will host a community garage sale benefitting Buda/Kyle Gold Santa. Gold Santa provides Christmas gifts to less fortunate families in Buda and Kyle. All profits will go to purchasing toys and gifts for Gold Santa.
