Body found aflame in Jarrell identified as Kyle woman

Staff report

The body of a woman found wrapped in a blanket and set on fire in Jarrell on June 9 was identified Thursday as Crystal Ann Cuellar, 33, of Kyle.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Capt. Fred Thomas said the case is being investigated as a suspicious death, with the sheriff’s office currently awaiting autopsy results.

The body was found after the Jarrell Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire along a service road of IH-35 south of Jarrell around 6:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Responding firefighters found the body and called the WCSO.

Thomas said the body was wrapped in a blanket and placed 20 yards off the service road. The body was set on fire. Thomas couldn’t answer if Cuellar had died prior to her body being set on fire.

The WCSO identified Cuellar through fingerprints that stemmed from a previous criminal history. According to Hays County Jail records, Cuellar had been arrested for robbery in October 2012 and for theft of a firearm, a state jail felony, in 2013.

Thomas said Cuellar’s last known address was in the 100 block of Green Hill Court in Kyle.

Authorities ask anyone who may have information to call the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at (512) 943-1300.
