A contingent of Hays High academic competitors qualified to advance to the state level of competition. Sponsor Marianne Wensmann saw her YMCA Youth and Government team advance as a result of their district performance recently. Leading the Hays showing were teammates Stanislav Verchenko and Shelby Nester who pulled out a first place in State Affairs. Teammates Jordan Clemmens, Luke Jackson, and Claudia Norman placed in the Top 10 in legislative competition, also earning a trip to State, set to be held at the State Capitol, and surrounding buildings. And teammates Meg Ballay, Loryn Hudson, Kaycee Armstrong, Houston Hathaway, Chase Wilson, and Gracie Hough placed 5th in Trial Court. Additionally, Dahlstrom Middle School students Bryson Severents and Travis Pierce took first in State Affairs.
