Mark Twain once said, “It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt”. Well, when it comes to Donald Trump, that horse has left the barn. Just when you think the man can’t say anything any stupider than his remark about Mexicans, he opens his Pandora Box and says John McCain should not be considered a war hero. What will this idiot say next? Maybe something like “Mother Teresa dresses like a tramp”.
Now, I am not the sharpest crayon in the box, but I think with all his money, the Donald could afford to have a speech writer who knows better than to say discriminatory remarks towards American voters. I won’t even harp on the oral fertilizer he was spreading about Hispanics. Perhaps Trump was misinformed that Mexican Americans actually have the right to vote. I wonder what percentage of Hispanic voters will now select Gringo Loco for their presidential candidate.
I spent last week on vacation, and I didn’t read a newspaper or watch TV for an entire week, so I was shocked to read about Trump’s recent remark about Senator John McCain. If you aren’t aware of Trump’s most recent bout of diarrhea of the mouth (or as his new friends south of the border say, boca de caca), allow me to place a clothespin on my nose, grab my plunger and bring it back up.
Donald had been campaigning up in Iowa when he ranted that John McCain, whose plane was shot down in the Vietnam War and spent five years as a POW, is “a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.” How can anyone with even half a brain say something this stupid? Is this the way to obtain votes from military veterans and current members of the armed forces? And speaking of the armed forces, who would want to enlist if Trump becomes our commander-in-chief?
Ok, you might gather from what I’ve said so far that I am not a big fan of Donald Trump. For the record, I am not a big fan of any candidate, Republican or Democrat, and if I were to rank all the candidates on their merits and intelligence, Donald Trump would be just beneath the old drunken redneck who scribbles his name in as a write-in candidate.
What is really disturbing to me is that I just read that Donald Trump is leading in the polls. People, wake up! Donald Trump is not a cast member on Saturday Night Live. Sure, he’s fun to watch, but so were the Three Stooges. Trump is an idiotic racist who is trying to buy a ticket into the White House. Do we really want this fool as our president?
Maybe I am being too harsh on the Donald. Perhaps he can’t help filter what seeps from that bird brain and squirts out of his mouth. Maybe all those years living high-on–the-hog has given him high cholesterol and clogged arteries leading to his brain. Or maybe the air is too thin up in the penthouse of Trump Tower. I have a theory for his abundant stupidity that relates to his crazy hair style. You all know how grass grows better over the septic tank, right? Need I say more?
As you enter the election booth, be mindful of these words from Leonardo de Vinci: “Blinding ignorance does mislead us. O! Wretched mortals, open your eyes!” If Donald Trump does get elected, I hope he doesn’t close our borders because I may have to move south for four years.
Strange, but there’s no law against Crow’s Nest columnists Clint Younts making people laugh. He whistles while he works, but it’s difficult to figure out what tune he is trying to carry. Like his grandfather told the young’uns, if you can’t sing on tune, sing loud.
