Author and historian James L. Haley will be at the Buda Public Library this Saturday discussing his newest book, Captive Paradise: A History of Hawaii. The last state to join the Union, Hawaii was the only one to have been a royal kingdom. Haley tells the real story, not the sugar coated one seen in many history books, of the struggle between different world powers to make use of Hawaii strategically and economically. Hosted by the Friends of the Buda Library. In lieu of a luau, tropical refreshments will be served. Takes place from 1-3 p.m. June 20 at the Buda Public Library.
