Kyle hires planning director


Businesses and developers wanting to move to Kyle will be seeing a new face as Manuel (Manny) De La Rosa has been hired as the new planning director. 


De La Rosa has 27 years in the municipal government business, as he has served in previous locations as judge, fire chief, economic development director, assistant city manager, and city manager. Before coming to Kyle, De La Rosa served as city manager for the city of Jonestown, Texas.


The new planning director received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. He is also a Certified Public Manager.


 


Kyle resident promoted by Acadian


Daniel Murphy of Kyle has been named an operations supervisor for Acadian Ambulance Service’s Austin Communication Center. A 20-year EMS veteran, Murphy joined Acadian in 2010. Acadian provides emergency and non-emergency medical transportation to 31 Texas counties and to various metro areas, including the Austin-San Antonio corridor.


 


Isaac on energy task force


State Rep. Jason Isaac (R-Dripping Springs)has been named to the Energy, Environmental and Agricultural Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).


ALEC is an organization of conservative state legislators and members of the private sector who share model state-level legislation. ALEC is a 501(c)(3) organization. The organization drafts legislation on such issues as reducing corporate regulation and taxation, tightening voter identification rules and promoting gun rights. 


Other bills promoted through the ALEC exchange includes limiting corporate liability for harm caused to consumers (tort reform) and changes to collective bargaining rights.


In his release, Isaac said, “Balancing the energy needs of our growing population and economy while being good stewards of our environment is an important but complicated task.  I am honored to join this dedicated group of individuals who are committed to studying thoughtful and effective public policy on this subject matter and ultimately form model legislation based on best practices that states across the country can depend on when tackling these issues.”


ALEC’s annual meeting will be held at July 30-Aug. 1 in Dallas. The organization has nearly 2,000 members nationwide.
