Three Lehman High School Band members received State Band recognition from the Texas Music Educators Association. French horn player Tyler Thormahlen and trumpet player Jared Dunn took All-State Band honors, and bass clarinetist Sierra Herrera was named All-State Alternate.
Lehman Band Director Joey Lucita said after the big auditions weekend at University of Texas, “I am extremely proud of these students ... for their accomplishments in reaching the highest level of musical achievement attainable by any Texas high school musician ... and that they represent Lehman High School and Hays CISD in an incredible fashion.”
The All-State Bands perform Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio as part of the TMEA Annual Convention.
