Alive at 25 classes in San Marcos

Hays County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting an Alive at 25 class on February 22, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m..  The classes are instructed by members of the Texas Alive Team, a non-profit multi-agency team of law enforcement and safety professionals dedicated to saving lives.

The goal is to empower young drivers to adopt safer driving habits and reduce injury and death among Texas’ young drivers. Alive at 25 is a highly effective four-hour course that serves as an excellent complement to standard driver education programs — and is also ideal for young drivers who incur traffic violations.

Alive at 25 is a survival course for all 15-24 year olds developed by the National Safety Council and offered by the Texas Alive Team. It is a four-hour program, taught by law enforcement personnel, that focuses on the behaviors and decision-making patterns that young drivers and passengers display behind the wheel. It is designed to prevent the number one killer of teens, vehicle crashes.

Students who have completed the class report that Alive at 25 is an engaging way to learn the important message: Driving while distracted, tired, impaired or under peer pressure is deadly.

The National Safety Council reports that students who complete the Alive at 25 course are 75 percent less likely to be killed in a car crash than youths that have not taken the course.  Embrace the road ahead.  Give your young driver the power to prevent a deadly mistake.

The cost for the class is $25.00 or if court-ordered $50.00.

The class are scheduled for 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, 1307 Uhland Road in Training Room B San Marcos.
