John Henry Kieke, 83, of Buda, was called home to his Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, Jan. 1, 2014 from complications following surgery to remove his kidney due to cancer. He was born Aug. 12, 1930 in Creedmore, Texas.
He was predeceased by his parents Otto & Stella Kieke, sister Julienne, and brother, Harold Wayne.
He is survived by his loving wife Vernile Reinhardt Kieke of 64 years; daughters Jeanne Cunningham (Coleman) & JoAnn Dunlap (Ken). He is also survived by grandsons Matt Bisson (Lori), John Bisson (Angela), Jeramiah Dunlap (Amanda) and Denver Dunlap (Lori); and great-grandchildren Will and Sam Bisson, Emily and Jack Bisson, and Luke, Cole and Kelly Dunlap.
John Henry was an honest, generous, hard-working Christian man who was dedicated to and dearly loved by his family and friends. He was a devoted, caring, nurturing and fun-loving provider, husband, daddy and grandpa. There was no other like him! He never met a stranger, never forgot a face and was a friend to many.
John Henry was a veteran Austin Fire Fighter and retired with 28 years of dedicated service.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 4, at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin, TX, with Pastor Steve Fick officiating. Interment followed at Onion Creek Memorial Park.
