Quartet
Coming to the Wimberley VFW Hall for 6 performances on January 11, 12, 18 and 19, the run of this poignant comedy includes four matinees to accommodate patrons who do not wish to drive after dark.
By turns funny and poignant, the play centers around Cissy, Reggie, and Wilfred. But Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva and refuses to sing in the annual concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday. Patrons don’t have to love opera to enjoy this story of coming to terms with the so-called “golden years” and the personal challenges that come with them. Classical music fans will love the show for the numerous references to composers and diva moments.

Fine Line at the Witliff Collections
View this traveling exhibition of voices and photographs that confronts stereotypes and reveals the courage and fragility of those living with mental illness at the Witliff Collections. Each subject was photographed with a large-format camera, creating exceptional 20” x 24” prints in the darkroom. The experiences they share involve living with schizophrenia, depression, and obsessive-compulsive, bi-polar, and anxiety disorders.
Fine Line will be at the Wittliff from Jan. 2 through March 30, 2014. The Wittliff Collections are located on the seventh floor of Texas State’s Alkek Library in San Marcos.
