San Marcos police have identified the victim of an overnight “suspicious” death Friday as 23-year-old Misty Amber Davis.
The incident also sent a 25-year-old man, who lived with Davis in the 1300 block of Barbara Drive in San Marcos, to an Austin hospital with an apparent gunshot wound early Friday morning, shortly after police dispatchers received a call about a shooting just after 1 a.m.
City officials said the wounded man called police and advised dispatchers he had been shot. When police and EMS arrived at the scene Davis was found unresponsive inside the home and later was pronounced dead at the residence, San Marcos city officials said in a statement.
The man was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin where he was treated and released hours later, officials said.
Details on the cause of Davis’ death have not been released at this time pending an autopsy by the Travis County Medical Examiners. Officials also are keeping quiet on the specifics behind the incident other than to say an investigation into the “suspicious death” is ongoing.
