And the cookies march on

By Sandra Grizzle.

Katie Gibson, a Girl Scout who is working on her Silver Award, will teach students to make fun projects out of items that would otherwise end up in our trash cans. Katie’s Craft Clinic is Saturday, March 1 with a morning class for six- to eight-year-olds from10 a.m. until noon. The afternoon session will be 2 to 4 p.m. for ages nine-eleven. Preregistration for the sessions is required. Call or stop by the library.

There is still time to buy more Girl Scout Cookies. Due to our cold, cold weather, the sale has been extended until March 2.

This year members of the Onion Creek Senior Center have announced that the annual membership meeting will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 10 a.m. followed by a noon lunch.  There will be an election for four members of the board of directors (three (3) for three-year terms and one (1) for an unexpired one year term) and amendments to the by-laws. Members are urged to attend the meeting on March 6.

In previous years, the seniors have also held a live and silent auction after the business meeting but this year the auction will be held on March 27. Leroy Opiela will serve as auctioneer and as always there will be many good items in the sale. Do plan to attend this fun event starting at 10 a.m. A fajita lunch will be served at noon.

Elizabeth Ruge’s birthday is Feb. 29, so will she celebrate on the 28th or on the first day of March? How about just celebrating on both days. However you do it, have a happy birthday.

March birthday wishes go out to: Michael Chance, Stephanie Pecuch, Jackie (Hollis) Martinez and JoAnn Keller on the first day of March; Randal Grizzle, March 3; Gerald Zander on March 4; Carlos Zapata, Donnie Haffelder and Roger Wolfe on March 5.

It’s time again for “First Thursday” in Buda. Come to town on March 6 for shopping, strolling, eating and just enjoying Buda’s historical downtown area. Many of the shops will have special sales, entertainment and refreshments starting at 5 p.m.

It is not too soon to start looking for the first bluebonnet in bloom ... let us know when you see it.
