Kevin Ray Rodriguez II (1994-2014)

Kevin Ray Rodriguez, II, beloved son of Kevin and Monica Rodriguez, died Jan. 31, 2014. He was 20 years old.

Born May 4, 1993, in Austin, Texas, he was baptized at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, and took his first Holy Communion at San Jose Catholic Church both in South Austin. His faith in God was strong and he was confirmed at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, both performed by Father Kirby Garner.

Kevin Ray graduated from Hays High School in 2011. He grew up playing Southwest Austin Pop Warner Football, served in Jr. ROTC, and was a member of the South Austin Optimist Baseball League. He had a passion for the Ford Mustang, his Hot Wheel car collection and Bob Marley music. He was an avid fisherman.  He loved his dog, Jake, and was deeply saddened when he died in 2011.

He adored and doted over his sister, Marlise.  He was a jokester and loved to make those around him laugh.

While our family is heartbroken by the sudden loss of Kevin Ray and our lives won’t be the same without him, he is now in the arms of our Holy Father.

Kevin Ray is survived by his father, Kevin R. Rodriguez of Austin, his mother, Monica Soliz Rodriguez and younger sister Marlise, both of Buda.  Kevin Ray is also survived by his biological mother, Theresa Rodriguez and three brothers, Valentine Perez, Christopher Manuel Perez, and Cristian Martinez, all of Austin.  Also survived by his paternal grandparents, Elias Moran of Buda and Elida Rodriguez of Austin and his maternal grandparents Manuela C. Castillo of Pleasanton and Rudy Soliz Sr. and Betty Mattingly of Owensboro, Kentucky.  Aunts and uncles include Mike and Ellie Cantu of Selma, Alfredo and Sophia Rodriguez of Elgin, and Tomas Arroyo of Buda.  Rudy and Mary Soliz of Hondo, James and Deborah Solis of Converse, David and Michelle Muniz, Chris Soliz, and Elijah Soliz all of McAllen, Ryan and Christina Miller of Phoenix, Arizona, Amanda Soliz of Springfield, Illinois and Matthew Soliz of Indianapolis, Indiana.  Kevin Ray will be missed by numerous great aunts, uncles, great-grandparents, and cousins in Texas as well as Central Wyoming.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The Adoption ion Coalition of Texas at: http://www.adoptioncoalitiontx.org/donate.html
