A pair of Hays County youth teams capped off successful trips to the 11u AA Battle of Omaha World Series in Omaha, Nebraska in mid-June. The Tejanos, based out of Kyle, claimed first place in the silver bracket, going 5-3 during tournament play. Highlighting the Tejanos’ run were three home runs from Trea Verver, and two home runs from Koleman Salazar and Isaac Macias. Tyler Cooper pitched a complete game, while Landon Pyles threw a no-hitter. The 11u Dripping Springs Tigers completed their run in the Battle of Omaha with a 7-1 mark and the gold division championship. Brennan Fricket hit two home runs, while Cameron O’Banan had one. Blake Bryant aided the effort with a complete game shutout in the gold division championship game.
