John Henry Meador, Sr. (1935-2014)

Dr. John Henry Meador, Sr., age 78, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. He was born on May 25, 1935, in San Antonio. 


He obtained his B.S. degree from Baylor University and an M.D. degree from University of Texas at Galveston. He participated in teaching service in Pediatric, Thoracic, Vascular, and General Surgery and served as a Clinical Assistant in Surgery at Hermann Hospital, University of Texas. He also served as a Captain and a rated Air Force flight surgeon from 1962-1963.



Survivors are wife, Betty Meador, brother, Joe Meador and wife Bonnie of San Antonio, sister-in-law, Jo Lynn Meador, children, Andrew Meador, and wife, Heather, of Missouri City, John Meador, Jr. of Buda, Melanie Meador and partner, Cathy Morris, of Austin, Elizabeth Bruman and spouse, Steve, of Spring, step children, Tamara Hoey of Houston, Lisa Walker of Garland, Barbara Brownback, and husband, Larry, of Houston, Dianne Bielski, and husband, Matt, of Rockwall, and grandchildren, Michelle and Madeline Bruman, Kathryn Meador, Andrew and Caroline Meador, Henry Meador Morris, Brandon Cook, and wife, Kristin, Matthew, Macey, and Mark Bielski, Zachary, Micah, Noah and Jeremy Purdie, great grandchild, Finley Cook, and many nieces and nephews and their children.


His family will remember him not for his professional accomplishments, but for his love of ranching, hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, Colorado, scholarly Biblical study, and in depth knowledge and study of many subjects. Those who desire may make contributions to M.D. Anderson for Leukemia Research.


A Memorial Service was held Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land.
