So you think you can write? Buda Library writing contest for adults

SUBMITTED REPORT

If you enjoy writing, submit your best short story and have a chance at winning a cash prize. The Friends of the Buda Library, the Buda Public Library, and the Hays Free Press present a literary competition for Hays County Library Cardholders age 17 and older.

Get creative and write a short story, no longer than 4,000 words, about any topic you desire.

Local writers, community leaders and librarians will judge all entries based on the quality of the writing, creativity, originality and overall story.

The top three writers will have their stories published on the library’s website and receive a cash payout:

1st Prize: $200

2nd Prize: $100

3rd Prize: $50

The top prize winning story will also be published on the Hays Free Press website and the author will be recognized in the print edition of the paper.

Submissions will be accepted through May 16. The entry fee is $20 and all proceeds benefit the programs and services at the Buda Public Library.

For complete guidelines and submission details, ask your Buda librarian or visit: friendsofthebudalibrary.org.
