Buda man wanted in Kyle stabbing murder

By Andy Sevilla.

A 19-year-old Buda man is wanted in the fatal stabbing of Ulises Garcia at a large house party in east Kyle late last month. Two other suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Xavier Wayne Harper, who is accused of murder, a first-degree felony. Harper has not yet been arrested, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

A lengthy investigation, which resulted in the interviews of more than 80 people, revealed Harper fatally stabbed Garcia at the party in the Sunrise Acres subdivision on March 23, just outside of eastern Kyle.

Garcia was transported to Seton Medical Center Hays in a private vehicle, but died before being taken into the hospital. The sheriff’s office said Garcia died due to his stab wounds. Two other partygoers also were seriously injured and transported to nearby hospitals, officials said. Neither their identities, nor their conditions have been released.

Onesimo Alvarado, 20, was arrested in his Kyle home Thursday for his involvement in the stabbing incident. Authorities have charged him with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the sheriff’s office said Friday. The extent of his involvement was unclear Friday.

Hays County jail records show Alvarado remained in custody under a $200,000 bond.

Eric Sipriano Romero, 17, a Lehman High School junior, also was arrested in his Kyle home Thursday and has been charged with purchasing/furnishing alcohol to minors and with tampering with evidence at a crime scene, a Class A Misdemeanor and a State Jail Felony, respectively.

Officials said Romero’s charges stem from hosting a party where the assaults are alleged to have happened. Investigators arrived to the house party on March 23 and found the scene of the incident to have been intentionally compromised, the sheriff’s office reported.

Investigators are continuing their investigation and have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests being made, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at (512) 393-7896 or the Hays County Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 324-TIPS (8477).

Any information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspects will be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward. All calls are kept confidential and callers will remain anonymous.
