As part of the school’s “Reach for the Stars” reading program, first and second-graders at Negley Elementary read more than 92,000 minutes. The students helped their school earn $6,800 for new books.
Half the money is for books for the students’ homes, while the other half will go toward new books for their classrooms. Mrs. Vasquez’ class was the top first-grade class, reading 12,120 minutes during the two-week program. The top second-grade class, Mrs. Kromer’s, recorded a total of 15,492 reading minutes.
