The top-ranked senior and valedictorian for the Class of 2021 is Makayla Banton. The second-ranked student and salutatorian is Gabrielle Avena. Other students ranked in the top 10 in order are: Caroline Gamble, Dylan Wolfe, Avery Davis, Mallory Junker, Mitchell Bockelman, Alexander Schlab, Jake Fields, and Drew Wilson. Bockelman also was a National Merit Finalist. All 10 students carried an overall weighted grade point average of 108 or higher.
"This class of seniors has faced extraordinary circumstances as we navigate through the pandemic, but they have shown great resilience and positivity,” said Principal Angela Gamez. “These students have excelled in many areas beyond academics, and have exhibited outstanding leadership capabilities. I have no doubt they move on to the next stage of their lives well-positioned for success and will make Dripping Springs High School proud for years to come.”
The students will be honored during the Senior Awards Night and at the Dripping Springs High School Graduation.
