The Hays Rebel baseball team took on future 14-6A foe Austin Bowie Tuesday night at Rebel field. Bowie used a pair of home runs and a double by catcher Joe Davis to springboard past Hays 8-2. The Rebs countered with two runs in the third using singles by Justin Montana and Zach Ibarra to set up a 2RBI double by Nate Scott in their only scoring of the night.
The Rebs matched Bowie’s six hits but they were scattered and failed to produce more than the two runs in the third. Rebel pitchers, Calvin Coker, Trey Dickerson, Mike Gonzales and Tyler Woodmansee recorded seven strikeouts in the effort.
The Rebs will play in the Judson tournament this weekend.
