The Kyle substation of the Hays County Tax Office will be closed April 12 through 16 due to a staff member who tested positive for COVID-19.
Only the tax office will be closed temporarily. All other offices within the county substation will remain open.
In the time being, the county has alternatives for tax services provided by the Kyle substation.
For residents who want to pay taxes, they may go in person to any of the other three substations located in San Marcos, Wimberley or Dripping Springs. The online payment portal is also available for use at www.tax.co.hays.tx.us. -Over-the-phone payment options are also available by calling 800-300-8007, extension 9. The dropbox option is accessible at all office locations.
Residents may also mail in their tax payments or motor vehicle transactions to 712 S. Stagecoach Trail, Suite 1120, San Marcos, TX 78666.
Motor vehicle transactions will be accessible at any of the other tax office locations, or through the drive-thru option in San Marcos. More details on the drive-thru option are available at https://hayscountytx.com/departments/taxoffice/contact-the-tax-assessor-collector-office/.
Residents may also access motor vehicle transactions at www.texas.gov. All drop box locations will be accessible for motor vehicle transactions.
Additionally, any H-E-B in Hays County will accept motor vehicle transactions with a renewal notice and a tag not expired more than one month.
