Robinson interim principal at Buda Elem
Hays CISD Superintendent Michael McKie appointed Tim Robinson as the interim principal for Buda Elementary School. He has been the assistant principal at Dahlstrom Middle School since 2011.
McKie will recommend Robinson to the Board of Trustees at its next regular meeting in August to be hired as the full-time principal at the campus.
Robinson has been an educator for the past 15 years. He began teaching in 1999 at a school district in New Mexico. In 2002, he joined the Hays CISD family at Elm Grove Elementary as a fourth grade teacher. Through 2011, he also taught fourth grade at Science Hall and Carpenter Hill Elementary Schools.
He completed the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) Master Teacher opportunity and an administrative internship prior to becoming the assistant principal of Dahlstrom Middle School. In 2013, he was named the district’s assistant principal of the year.
“I am passionate about education and the role it plays in shaping the youth of our nation,” Robinson said in his letter of interest for the principal position. “My desire to become a principal is deeply rooted in the belief that all students can be successful given the right tools and opportunities. I believe in public education and Hays CISD!”
Robinson holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree, majoring in education, from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Prior to his career in education, Robinson served in the United States Navy, earning a national defense medal for service during Operation Desert Storm.
If the Board of Trustees approves the recommendation, he will replace Kristi Campbell, who most recently served as the campus’ full time principal. Assistant Principal Soor-el Puga, who admirably served as the campus’ interim principal this spring, will return to his normal duties.
