Martin Luther King Day Activities


There will be a local civil rights trailblazer reception at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 19, at the San Marcos Activity Center. On Monday, Jan. 20, Hays County’s Martin Luther King Jr. observance ceremony will be at 10 a.m. on the steps of the south lawn of Hays County Courthouse. The parade march will follow down LBJ Drive to MLK Drive for the Crossroads Memorial dedication honoring LBJ and MLK. There will be a free social event afterwards at the Dunbar Center.



The Witliff Collections present Fanny Howe


Enjoy a reading from poet Fanny Howe at the Wittliff Collections on Feb. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Howe is the author of more than 20 books of poetry and prose. Five of her most important novels have been recently collected and republished under one edition called Radical Love. Contact (512) 245-2313 for information. The event is free and open to the public.


Howe will also be reading on Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Katherine Ann Porter House in Kyle.
