After nearly a year, the Kyle Police Department has filed a criminal case against a person-of-interest in the 2013 hit-and-run death of Phillip Duran, but authorities are keeping quiet on the details.
Police Chief Jeff Barnett said his department filed the case with the Hays County District Attorney last week. He said they are reviewing the case, and information on the facts of the investigation would not be released during the review. He would also not release the name of the suspect as charges have not been filed.
Authorities said last year, a Hays High School student was a person-of-interest in the case, but did not release the identity of the suspect.
According to police, Duran set out on a late-night run April 27 and was apparently struck in an auto-pedestrian collision. His body was found lifeless on the roadside April 28.
