Wanda Lee Dunlap Batchelor, 93, of Mountain City, Texas, was born Sept. 29, 1921 in Little River, Wilson Valley, Texas to Charlie Smith Dunlap and Addie Lee Marks Dunlap. She passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.
She was a proud 5th generation Texan, descended from two pioneer Texas families who were among the founding members of Wilson Valley.
She graduated from Temple High School, class of 1939, and Temple Junior College in 1941, and attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Wanda worked at Brooks Air Force Base during World War II and during that time, she met and fell in love with a handsome Air Force pilot, Bruce Bingham Batchelor. They were married in 1946 in San Antonio, Texas. They were married 66 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce.
Wanda is survived by one daughter, Christine Elaine McKeeman, and her husband, Leland Paul McKeeman; and three grandchildren, John Edward Potter, Ryan Keith Martin McKeeman, and Jennifer Leigh McKeeman.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 26 at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle. Burial followed at the Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River.
